Cut Down On Dirty Dishes

Well, we are officially a few days into summer holidays and I already need to cut down on dirty dishes in this house. I am already sick of looking at and doing dirty dishes. I am seriously considering declaring this house a dish free zone!

And even when everyone is helping out, it still seems that the dishwasher is running too much.

So I've pulled out the heavy artillary.

I do this every summer, sometimes it takes longer than others for me to reach "that point".

I went to the dish box that I had been going to give to charity and got a different dish set for each of the kids.  We may have to buy a few pieces, or more likely a complete "cute" set for everyone, but the point is that everyone is responsible for their own dishes, and if anyone eats where they are not supposed to, and/or leaves their dishes out, I'm going to know exactly who to point the finger (and dish cloth) at.

It really works well. I recommend it to anyone who is fighting the dirty dish monster this summer.

btw, one thing can lead to another, while clearing space in the cupboard for the new dishes, I ended up getting rid of a bunch of recycling things that I didn't even know where there but had been taking up valuable room for who knows how long.

Since I was in the mood, I deep cleaned my counter top as well. How many things have you got sitting on your counter that you don't even notice anymore but are basically either garbage, or need a bit of TLC to be great (or at least put in the cupboard)

ACTION TIP

Get a difference colour set of dishes for each of your kids and don't let them use any other dishes. They are responsible for keeping them clean and put away.

And look at your cupboards and kitchen counter with a new eye today. What thing, or things can you get rid of?  Everything gone, is one more thing off our mind, and one more sigh of relief and happiness.

Make it your goal to cut down on dirty dishes, one dish at a time!
