Summer Holidays at The Beach
We spend a lot of the summer holidays at the beach. I bet you do too! If you don't, it really is a treat and a high point of summer if you are prepared.

Today is the first day of summer holidays here. I have been looking forward to it. It's always more challenging, but it's also more fun.
Today, I am going to get our official beach bag together and put it in our van.
It saves a lot of trouble come beach time, which is a daily request when the weather is good.
I like to keep sunscreen of course, hats, sunglasses, towels and a bit of money (for ice cream stops on the way home if I don't bring my purse) as the bare minimum.
Also pails and shovels and any beach toys that will fit. With the bag I usually keep a beach blanket and any toys that won't fit in the bag. I don't have them, but if you can some mini binoculars, or something similar, it may help. Our beach is shallow so they need to go out a long way, even with my glasses, I can hardly see them sometimes. If I can find some, I will definitely be getting them.
And don't forget yourself. I like to keep a book and/or anything that I can work on while there.
It's good to have something that you can leave in your van and make it your "beach project" if you can, to minimize shuffling papers around. Instead of the beach bag, I like to pack my own bag for that stuff.
Then it is also available for any other waiting times that you end up doing. I find that it really increases my willingness to take unplanned side trips, if I know that I can work because I have it with me while they play (parks etc).
It can be anything, if you work at home, it can be work, if you don't, it can be meal planning, home journal, anything that you normally may not get a chance to do.
It wouldn't hurt to keep a small check list of anything you need to bring that won't fit in the bag such as water bottles and food you would like to normally bring.
Keep very large things in a designated area, things like chairs, pool noodles or water toys.
